The World is Moving to Smartphones - Your Website Should be, Too

In 2010, customers purchased 270 million smartphones, such as iPhones and Androids. It is increasingly clear that the majority of your customers will soon be using smartphones to search the web. Now is the time to make sure their experience is a positive one.

Community Communications is now creating “smartphone friendly” versions of websites. Here’s how it works.

A smartphone user who goes to your website will automatically be redirected to a “smartphone friendly” version of your site. A PC user, on the other hand, will continue to see the traditional version of your site.

Below is an example of what a “smartphone friendly” website looks like.

The “Before” image on the left shows how the Lester’s BBQ website used to look on a smartphone. As you can see, the website was tiny, making it impractical to navigate and get information from. The “After” image on the right shows how the Lester’s BBQ website currently looks on a smartphone. Users can now easily browse the site and find the information they are looking for.

If you or someone you know has a smartphone, you can give this a try yourself. From your PC, go to www.lestersbbq.com. Then, go to this same site from your phone. While you’re at it, try the same exercise with your own website. See the difference?
